100MPH the new 70

With the speed limits rising all over the United States people are using that speed to their advantage. It is not uncommon to see people driving 80-90MPH on the highway. Some states like Texas now have 85MPH highways, so driving 95-100MPH is a reality for most drivers.

If a road and traffic can safely handle higher speeds why not allow people to drive them? Take my girl, when the road is clear she likes to push the pedal to the floor.

Her foot goes from just holding the pedal steady to pushing it down to the floor.

The car jumps to life and the speedometer creeps up to 100+ MPH.

As the traffic permits she keeps the pedal to the floor with the engine screaming.

Countries like Europe have motorways with higher speed limits or no limit at all. People learn to drive safer based on the conditions of the roads. If you are use to driving on a highway that you can go 100MPH on all the time you are less likely to have an accident based on your higher level of awareness. People that just drive fast and take chances are the ones that cause problems on the highway.
